Not every BMW in our community is a weekend sports car. Many members drive a Touring, an X model, an Active Tourer or a saloon that carries children, dogs, luggage and shopping every day. This topic is for family BMW owners to introduce themselves.

Why we want to hear from family owners

Family cars have different priorities: space, comfort, safety, running costs and dependability. Your experience is very useful for members who are choosing their next car and want to know what daily life with a BMW is really like.

What to share

You could include:

  • Your car: model, engine and roughly how long you have owned it.
  • How you use it: school runs, long holidays, towing, commuting or all of the above.
  • Space and practicality: how the boot, rear seats and child seat mounting work for you.
  • Running costs in general terms: fuel economy, tyres and servicing. There is no need to share exact prices or invoices.
  • Favourite features: for example the heated steering wheel, the electric tailgate or adaptive cruise control.
  • Anything you would change: small annoyances help others make better choices.

Questions families often ask

Common topics in the forum include choosing between petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid for family use, fitting three child seats, roof boxes and towbars, and how to keep the interior clean. If you have a question, start a new topic in the right forum so it is easy to find later.

Safety and privacy

Please do not post photos that show children's faces, school uniforms, your home or your registration plate. Photos of the car on its own, the boot or the interior are perfect. Never share personal details such as addresses or phone numbers in public posts.

Choosing your next family BMW

If you are still deciding, tell us what you need: number of seats, boot size, towing, annual mileage and whether you can charge at home. Members with similar needs can share what worked for them, from Touring models to the larger X models and the seven-seat options.

A car that does it all

Many members say a good family BMW can be practical and still enjoyable to drive. Reply below to introduce yourself, tell us what your car does for your family and what you have learned so far. Your experience could help another family choose the right car.
