Your member profile is your home in the community. A complete profile helps other members recognise you, understand your experience and trust your advice. This topic explains the main parts of your profile and the privacy options you can use.

Profile photo and cover photo

Add a profile photo so members can recognise your posts. It can be a photo of you or of your car. The cover photo at the top of your public profile is the perfect place for a wide picture of your BMW. You can reposition the cover photo by dragging it until the best part of the car is visible.

Use your own photos only, and remember that your profile is public.

Bio, location and car

A short bio tells others who you are in a few sentences. You can add your location at the level you are comfortable with, for example a country or region rather than a town. The field for your BMW appears on your posts, so members immediately know what you drive when they read your questions.

Your garage

The garage on your profile shows the cars you own now and the cars you owned before. For each car you can add the model, year, colour, a photo and a short description. A well-kept garage makes your profile much more interesting and gives context to your questions and build threads.

Many members also keep a service log for their cars, which is a useful personal record of maintenance and repairs.

You can choose a profile colour that matches your style or your car. Social profiles such as Instagram or YouTube can be added in your profile settings and are shown on your public profile.

Privacy and safety

  • Choose what you share. All profile fields are optional.
  • Avoid personal data such as your full address, phone number or registration documents.
  • Private messages can be limited, for example to members you follow, if you prefer fewer messages.
  • Activity status in chats can be switched off if you do not want others to see when you are online.

Notifications

In your account settings you can choose which notifications you receive by email or on your device, such as replies, mentions and messages.

Keep it up to date

When you buy or sell a car, update your garage. When you start a project, mention it in your bio. An up-to-date profile makes every conversation in the community easier and more personal.
